اعتمد المجلس التنفيذي لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والثقافة والعلوم «اليونسكو» بالإجماع في اجتماع دورته الـ «180» مشروع إنشاء الفرعالدولي لجائزة حمدان بن راشد آل مكتوم للأداء التعليمي المتميز تحت مسمى جائزة حمدان بن راشد آل مكتوم للمعلم / اليونسكو
وتقدم الجائزة للجهات والمؤسسات التي أسهمت في دولها وخاصة الدول النامية في تحسين أداء المعلمين من خلال ورش عمل أو دورات تقدم للمعلمين أو إسهامات تساعد في تحسين أداء المعلمين.
وتقدر قيمة الجائزة بـ «270» ألف دولار أميركي تقسم على ثلاثة فائزين وتمنح الجائزة كل عامين وذلك اعتبارا من الدورة القادمة لجائزة حمدان بن راشد للأداء التعليمي المتميز 2009.
صرح بذلك الدكتور خليفة السويدي عضو مجلس أمناء جائزة حمدان بن راشد للأداء التعليمي المتميز ورئيس لجان التحكيم في الجائزة عقب الاجتماع الذي عقد بمقر المنظمة في باريس مباشرة .
وقال السويدي انه سيتم تشكيل هيئة تحكيم دولية للجائزة تضم ثلاثة أعضاء دائمين هم المدير العام لليونسكو وممثل من مجلس أمناء الجائزة ومنسق عام للجائزة وستضم إلى جانب ذلك خمسة أعضاء غير دائمين يمثلون المناطق الجغرافية للدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو على ان يكون المدير العام لليونسكو رئيسا فخريا لهيئة التحكيم الدولية للجائزة.
وأوضح انه سيتم رفع موافقة المجلس التنفيذي لليونسكو على اجتماع المؤتمر العام لليونسكو يوم الجمعة القادم للتصديق عليها ، مضيفا أن المملكة العربية السعودية الشقيقة وباعتبارها عضوا في المجلس التنفيذي وممثلا عن الدول العربية قدمت مبادرة سمو الشيخ حمدان بن راشد آل مكتوم ـ نائب حاكم دبي وزير المالية ـ راعي الجائزة والخاصة بتأسيس جائزة سموه لمكافأة الممارسات والجهود المتميزة لتحسين أداء المعلمين .
وكان الدكتور سعيد بن محمد المليص نائب وزير التربية والتعليم لتعليم البنين عضو المجلس التنفيذي للمنظمة قد دعا للموافقة على المشروع بشأن إنشاء جائزة حمدان بن راشد آل مكتوم للمعلم / اليونسكو ، وطالب بالموافقة على نظام وقواعد الجائزة مشيرا إلى أنه لمس شخصيا نتائج هذه الجائزة على مستوى دول الخليج أثناء إدارته لمكتب التربية العربي لدول الخليج العربية بعد أن حققت نتائج مبهرة على مستوى دولة الامارات.
واستعرض الأهداف والعوائد المهمة للجائزة التي تأتي مع ذكرى احتفاء اليونسكو باليوم العالمي للمعلم الموافق الخامس من أكتوبر وبمبادرة ودعم شخصي من سمو الشيخ حمدان بن راشد آل مكتوم نائب حاكم دبي وزير المالية راعي الجائزة.
