His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum

He belongs to Al Maktoum prestigious Arab family governing Dubai, U.A.E.. He is the second son of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and he is currently the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance since 1971. He is well known for his philanthropic deeds and his passion for culture, literature and scientific developments and his care for sustainable human development in a stable international environment based on dialogue and partnership. The most famous of his initiatives is Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance and Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences.

His Highness was chosen the Humanity Personality of the Year 2000 for his support of many charity projects in many poor countries.

His Highness was chosen the in 2005 as the Best International Figure in Health, Education and Sports fields by the International Hospital Federation.

In 2006, His Highness received 3 certificates from the British Royal College, to be the first international personality who achieves such accomplishment, namely:

  1. *Honorary Fellowship Certificate of the British Royal College for Internal Medicine in London.   
  2. *Honorary Fellowship Certificate of the British Royal College for Internal Medicine in Edinburgh.
  3. *Honorary Fellowship Certificate of the British Royal College for Internal Medicine and Surgery in Glasgow.
    His Highness was also granted the «Arab Technology» Award for his lifetime achievement, in recognition of  his efforts in support of information technology in the Middle East.

Also, His highness received the award of “Best Owner of Arabian Horse in the World” from the European Conference of Arab Horse Organizations (ECAHO).   

In December 2006, His highness was awarded the highest medal of appreciation from the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), in recognition of his efforts in supporting education and science programs.

In 2007, His Highness was chosen as Personality of the Year by the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, in recognition of his role in supporting voluntary work.

In 2008, His Highness received a special honor from the African Leadership Summit in Addis Ababa, in recognition of the efforts of His Highness in supporting education and humanitarian relief programs in more than 23 African countries.

And in 2016, His Highness was honored by choosing him the Civilizational Arab Figure of the Year 2016.
