The Best Research in Healthcare Award targets young professionals, honouring the best young research talents and promoting a culture of scientific research. Winners are selected based on the quality of their submitted research papers, reflecting their innovative contributions to advancing healthcare.
Eligibility Criteria
v The application is open for young professionals; defined as: recent graduates, newly graduated trainees, and individuals enrolled in training and residency programs who have graduated within the past six years.
v The application is open to all scientific disciplines in the healthcare sector, including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, nutrition, physiotherapy, and other allied health specialties.
v The applicant must be:
o A young professional as defined above
o The first author of the research paper.
o A UAE national or resident.
v The scientific research must meet the following criteria:
o The research must not have been previously published.
o The research must have been conducted within the UAE. However, UAE nationals studying abroad may submit research conducted outside the UAE.
v Previous award winners may reapply, provided at least three years have passed since their win.
Terms & Conditions
v Applications must be submitted through the designated submission platform.
v The research team must authorize one of its members to:
o Submit the application form.
o Receive the award and attend the ceremony if selected as a winner.
v Each applicant is allowed to submit only one research paper per award cycle.
v The contribution of young professionals to the research must account for at least 50%.
v Adherence to research ethics, scientific integrity, and intellectual property rights is mandatory.
v The prize amount will be distributed exclusively among young researchers based on their contribution to the research paper.
v The decision of the judging committee is final and cannot be appealed.
v The Foundation reserves the right to withdraw the award if it is found that the winner has violated any eligibility criteria, award terms, research ethics, scientific integrity, intellectual property rights, or for any other reason deemed valid by the foundation.
v The Foundation reserves the right to amend or cancel the award at any time, with or without providing reasons or prior notice.
v The Foundation may publish a simplified summary of the winning research on its website and media platforms.
Submission Requirements
v The application must be submitted in English.
v Submit the CVs of all young professionals listed as contributors to the paper.
v Submit the CV of the research supervisor, holding the title of Specialist, Consultant, Faculty Member, or equivalent.
v Applicants must include a letter from the project supervisor stating:
o No objection to submitting the research for the award.
o A detailed account of each contributor's role in the paper, including an approximate percentage of their contribution.
o Signatures of all contributors listed in the paper.
v A title page must be provided with the following information:
o Research paper title
o Authors
o Affiliations
o Contact information
v The submitted paper must adhere to the following formatting and word count requirements:
o Title
o Abstract (maximum 250 words)
o Main text:
§ Introduction (maximum 750 words)
§ Methods and tools (maximum 1000 words)
§ Results (maximum 750 words)
§ Discussion (maximum 1000 words)
§ Conclusion and study limitations (maximum 250 words)
§ Funding sources, if applicable
o Research ethics committee approval
o Patient consent declaration, if applicable
o Conflict of interest declaration, if applicable
o Disclosure of any use of AI tools (e.g., large language models like ChatGPT) in writing the paper
o A complete, accurate, and online-accessible reference list (maximum 30 references)
o Supplementary materials (graphs, illustrations, and tables) must be attached at the end of the paper
v Disclosure of any awards received for the submitted research.
v An Arabic translation of the research paper title.
v Include a simplified summary of the research paper, not exceeding 300 words.
v Valid passport copies of all young professionals involved in the research paper.
Incentives and Rewards
The award is granted to three winners, each receiving a monetary prize of AED 100,000, a trophy, and a certificate of excellence.
